Beyonce's sister Solange Knowles tells reporters that she enjoyed her holiday in Croatia, singling out the island of Hvar as her favourite place.
While the island of Hvar in Croatia is used to hosting celebrities, getting public feedback from the stars about how they enjoyed their stay is rarely forthcoming, but Beyonce's sister, Solange Knowles was gushing in her praise in an interview on September 28, 2011.
Hvar the Favourite Destination in Croatia
"It was beautiful. One of my favourite places I have ever been" said Knowles, when questioned by a reporter who informed her she was from Croatia. Asked where she had been in the country, she repiled:
"I was in Hvar and also Dubrovnik. It is not the easier place to get to, Hvar, which was my favourite, but it's worth it."
Hvar's Beyonce Baby Bump Exclusive
The family holiday, where Solange accompanied her pregnant sister Beyonce and husband Jay-Z, made global headlines as pregnant Beyonce relaxed in at Hvar's trendy Hula Hula Beach Club, sporting a white two-piece bikini, thereby revealing her baby bump to the world for the first time. The baby is due in February.
The Beyonce 'exclusive' was the second celebrity boost to the island's tourism this season, coming hot on the heels of Prince Harry's decision to jump fully clothed into a swimming pool at top open air nightclub, Veneranda, also in Hvar Town.
Solange's assertion that Hvar was somewhat difficult to reach may raise eyebrows in some quarters, given that the ensemble arrived on the 40-metre yacht, Odessa, a method of transport not available to the majority.
How Hard is it to Reach Hvar?
The options for reaching Hvar from the main port of Split consist of the regular ferries and catamarans to Hvar Town, Split and Jelsa, while a second terminal on the east of the island at Sucuraj serves traffic from Dubrovnik and other southern resorts.
For those with a little more cash available, there is the possibility to charter a small plane from Split Airport which can transport three guests to the small airstrip near Stari Grad. Transfer time is twelve minutes.
There is also a wide selection of private speedboat transfers available, from both Split and Dubrovnik, with speed of transfer directly related to price.
Hvar is becoming increasingly popular as a celebrity destination. Known as the sunniest island in the Adriatic, and with a stunning Venetian main town opposite the picturesque Pakleni Islands, Hvar offers an additional benefit to celebrities - a relaxed welcome where celebrity status is taken in its stride and privacy respected.
